Hello Overpower Tournament Players
Isn’t it wonderful to be opening packs and testing new deck designs again? These first couple of releases may be modest, but BMG is laying the groundwork for an Overpower future we haven’t seen since the 1990s. We look forward to hearing more from BMG as the company moves forward with its business plan and we see new card sets with new mechanics being released .
BMG has announced prize support for our events. The 2023 Tournament Directors met recently. We believe the following changes will enable consistency across our events and provide long term benefits to our playing community.
  • Our tournaments will operate under BMG rules, the biggest of which is the banning Devour of the Worlds (DOW) at our competitions.
  • No proxies will be allowed for BMG published cards. All previously printed Fleer/Marvel cards are allowed (other than DOW). For example, if you have an original Power Leech, you are allowed to use it. You are not forced to use the BMG Grim Reaper. However, you cannot use a Fan based proxy for Power Leech or for any of the cards that are available through the World Legends – Any Hero Essentials Pack, including the Any Powers and the Homebase Fortifications/A-Next Aspect cards. Don’t worry if you show up at a tournament without the cards. You’ll be able to obtain them from the Orange King or borrow or trade for them at the event.
  • We are an Overpower playing community that loves the game, enjoys the competition and most of all, just likes being together. As Tournament Directors we agreed to name our circuit theĀ North American Overpower League. All of our branding and communications will reflect this change going forward.
We trust you will respect our decisions and happily support the card usage changes.
A series of tournament related announcements will be made over the next few weeks. We look forward to seeing you at our tournaments. It promises to be a wonderful playing season.
Sincerely,
2023 NAOL Directors
